NFL Week 4 Plays of the Week - Fanduel

Mr. Smith Shreds Buffalo

Fanduel.com has become the go to place for people who love daily and weekly fantasy games. Unlike traditional leagues, you get to pick your teams to suit the match ups and injury situations that arise every week in the NFL.

The key to winning at Fanduel is to get players who outperform their cost. Sure everybody knows Drew Brees and Adrian Peterson are studs, but to get them on your team they are gonna cost you.

So each week I'll bring you the cheaper options at each of the six positions that make up a standard Fanduel play that I fully expect will outperform their value. This information comes from studying trends and making educated guesses, but anything can happen on any given Sunday (or Thursday or Monday) so do your own research, pick wisely and enjoy your Fanduel experience.

Is this your first time trying Fanduel? Then make sure you put in the Fanduel Promo Code PD200 to receive up to $200 in matching plays. Good luck and send me your success stories.

Overall Play of the Week
This was a difficult one, but I will always try and make The Overall Pick of the Week a Bang for Your Buck pick.

Torrey Smith - $7,000
Smith has quietly put up the best start to the season in his career. While he has yet to find the end zone he faces the Bills Sunday and this is the week that his big play ability will find him dancing in the end zone.

Smith will cost you, but I wouldn't be surprised if he hit paydirt twice.

Projections: 8 catches for 110 yards and 1 TD.

Quarterbacks for NFL Week 4 - Fanduel

Tony Romo Awesome
Fanduel Plays of the Week - Quarterbacks

Fanduel weekly leagues. While Drew Brees. Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers will be bad asses for an entire season there are weeks when they will be outperformed by the EJ Manuel and Tim Tebow's (kidding) of the world.
Quarterbacks have the potential for the largest bang for your buck in

There are weeks when spending the big bucks will be worth it. If you choose not to make this week that week, then here's some solid value Plays of the Week.

Tony Romo - $8,200
Is it just me or are the San Diego Chargers fools gold. These guys can't keep winning can they? I say no and I think Romo will have a huge day against the Bolts.

The NFC East will be the Cowboys to lose and this week they will not. Expect big things from their passing offense this week.

Projections: 310 passing yards and 3 TDs.

Andy Dalton - $8,000
Cincinnati is for real. Andy Dalton is for real. Cleveland is "tossing in the towel." A plus B plus C = Big numbers for Andy Dalton.

Dalton has been solid, if not amazing. I think this week he reaches Top 5  status. Play him and sing a little song, dance a little dance and deposit some money in your bank.

Projections: 290 passing yards and 3 TDs.

Terrelle Pryor - $6,300
So he may not play, but if he does this short lived wunderkind of fantasy fun should again be a great play against the Redskins who love not playing defense well/

Concussions suck. Let's all hope Pryor is OK and runs his butt off.

Projections: 255 yards passing and 1 TD. 55 yards rushing and 1 rush TD.

Other Solid Options: Jay Cutler at $7,800 and Brian Hoyer at $5,800.

Running Backs for NFL Week 4 - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Running Backs

D-Mac in Buffalo Sauce
Running backs are both the easiest and most difficult positions to deal with in daily leagues. There are very few guaranteed plays from week to week, and those that are cost a lot. See AP any week. So what do you do?

Each week of the NFL season I'll be profiling three running backs that I believe will outperform their Fanduel.com cost. Generally I will try and profile players that cost under $8,000 to provide maximum value. This is based on semi-equal parts research, history and gut feeling.

Darren McFadden - $7,300
McFadden has amazing talent, but he's a constant injury risk and the Raiders suck. He will fulfill his promise this week against the woeful Washington Redskins.

He may be the only Raider I'll play if Terrelle Pryor sits with a concussion.

Projections: 110 rushing yards and 1 TD. 5 receptions for 35 yards.

Bilal Powell - $4,700
Against Buffalo Powell exploded for 149 yards. He won't get there this week, but he will more than equal his value. Buy him low and spend the spare cash on a big time.

Tennessee is better than Buffalo, but not by so much that Powell won't reach the end zone. Start him and smile.

Projections: 75 yards rushing and 1 TD. $ for 25 yards receiving.

Bernard Pierce - $6,800
If Ray Rice sits again, Pierce will be a steal play against Buffalo who seems to enjoy giving 100+ yards to opposing running backs. Even if Rice plays, he'll be limited and Pierce will see lots of work.

Put him in your lineup and feel good either way.

Projections: 110 yards and 1 TD and 5 catches for 25 yards if Rice sits. If Rice plays 70 yards and 1 TD and 4 catches for  20 yards.

Other Solid Options: Danny Woodhead at $5,700. Joique Bell at $7,400 (if Bush sits) and Brandon Bolden at $4,500.

Wide Receivers for NFL Week 4 - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Wide Receivers.

Run Torrey Run.
Wide Receiver is the position that makes or breaks your daily fantasy fortunes. Sure a stud running back or quarterback can build you a solid foundation, but WR remains the deepest position in fantasy football. Any week a $4,500 receiver can blow up anf give you value that tops the charts.

If you can grab a few of them, you are well on your way to winning at Fanduel. Each week I will bring you three receivers that cost under $7,000, but have the potential to pay huge dividends.

Josh Gordon - $6,500
Gordon is another in a long line of ultra talented Wide Receivers who seem to like to spend a lot of time with their heads up their nethers. In the first game after his suspension ended Gordon destroyed the Vikings for 10/142/1. I recommended him last week. Yay me.

Cincinnati is a far better defense than Minnesota, but I believe Gordon's talent will win out again.

Projections: 8 catches for 90 yards and 1 TD.

Pierre Garcon - $7,000
I must love this guy. He has appeared in this column before and will likely again. He is a deep threat with great hands and RGIII loves him.

This week they go against Oakland and if they can't win this game they can't win many.  I like him a lot this week.

Projections: 10 catches for 100 yards and 1 TD.

Other Solid Options: Eric Decker, Antonio Brown and Julian Edelman at $6,500.

Tight Ends for NFL Week 4 - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Tight Ends

Clay-Tastic.
Tight ends can be the toughest position to project. There are few if any guaranteed studs. Graham is one, but even he can have a down week. This is the ultimate upside vs. price position. I'll choose TEs under $7,000 ($6,500 if possible) each week that I think will perform in the Top 10. Choose wisely and choose bravely.

This is the week I'm dubbing value week. Unless you go with Jimmy Graham (I'd advise it against the Dolphins) these low cost options will be solid plays for you.

Charles Clay - $4,600
Who? A deep, deep sleeper in the preseason has proven to be a solid TE play this year with 14 receptions for 203 yards and one rushing TD.

If Miami wants to keep up with New Orlean's high powered offense then Clay will be a big part.

Projections: 5 catches for 65 yards and 1 TD.

Colby Fleener - $5,500
Fleener has become a big friend of Andrew Luck's and I suspect he will be a big part of the game plan against the Jags.

Fleener will be a household name soon. Get him now and rejoice.

Projections: 7 catches for 70 yards and 1 TD
Heath Miller - $5,800
Three Steelers in one week? Am I crazy? Miller has just returned from ACL surgery and posted a decent stat line. This week Big Ben will get him more involved in London.

Miller will slowly creep up the TE rankings for the rest of the year. Get him this week on the cheap.

Projections: 6 catches for 55 yards and 1 TD.

Other Solid Options: Martellus Bennett at $6,000 should be solid. Scott Chandler may grab one in the end zone at $4,600. If you're desperate Jordan Reed at $4,600 may pay some dividends.

Kickers for NFL Week 4 - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Kickers

Big Vin will help you win.
Lets face it folks, most fantasy football fanatics look at kickers and think I'll just pick one and that'll be that. When it comes to season long leagues that strategy works fine. But with weekly leagues like Fanduel the kicker can become a make or break position that can mean a difference of hundreds of dollars.

Kicker strategy is less about a weekly matchup and more about the nature of the teams offense. High powered offenses score more points. Use this philosophy when picking a kicker for your weekly Fanduel team.

Adam Vinatieri - $5,000
This is another example of a matchup play as the Colts face the crap-tastic Jags. Indy is good enough to earn a double digit lead and I suspect that Vinatieri will be a big part of it.

Projections: 3 FG and 3 XP.

Shaun Suisham - $5,000
Pittsburgh is not going to be a playoff team this year, but they will be decent enough to make Suisham a solid start most weeks especially as the Steelers falter frequently in the red zone.

Projections:  4 FG and 1 XP.

Matt Prater - $4,500
I must really enjoy breaking my own rules, because here's another one. But the Broncos have been destroying it on offense and Prater has been a consistent double digit performer for his owners. The streak will continue.

Projections: 3 FG and 4 XP.

Other Solid Options: Nick Novak, Nick Folk and Robbie Gould are all good options at $5,000.

Defenses for NFL Week 4 - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Defenses

Hello Eli, We're the Chiefs.
In the real fantasy world (huh?) Defenses are like kickers. Interchangeable and selected last. But in the fantasy wonderland of Fanduel Defenses are potent forces that can win you the week or doom you to the cellar.

The question is how do you pick the right one? The philosophy here is the opposite of kickers. It is all based on matchups. If a team is playing a crap ass offensive team then that is a defense you want to target. So the basics of finding value in weekly Fanduel leagues is as follows. Find the crappiest offensive team that is facing a reasonably decent defense that costs $5,200 or less. Done.

Kansas City Chiefs - $5,300
Yup, this breaks my rule because the Chiefs cost $5,300 this week. However Kansas City has already proven to be one of the best real world and Fanduel defenses in the 2013 NFL season.

This week they go against the surprisingly hapless New York Giants who made the Panthers a great play last week. While I don't suspect the Giants to put up another donut this week, I do think they will dominate the turnover game and will shred Eli's offensive line.

Projections: 5 sacks, 1 defensive TD, 2 INT, 2 fumble and they will hold the Giants under 17 points.

Pittsburgh Steelers - $5,000
The Steelers are not a very good team. Gone are the days of dominating D. If any team needs a near down and out opponent to put a smile on their lips its black and gold.

Enter the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They start a rookie QB at Wembley in London, a place they seem to like to lose.

Projections: 3 sacks, 1 defensive TD, 1 int, 2 fumbles. If Tampa scores more than 14 points I'll be real, real surprised.

Other Good Options: Indianapolis gets the Jags which makes them an automatic start at $5,000. The Jets and Saints also get the nod at $5,000.
