Running Backs for NFL Week 2 - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Running Backs

Ridley Will Return to 2012 Form.

Is this your first time trying Fanduel? Then make sure you put in the Fanduel Promo Code PD200 to receive up to $200 in matching plays. Good luck and send me your success stories.

LeSean McCoy - $8,600
After his week one performance McCoy will not be a secret, but he still costs $1,400 less than AP. He is the sixth costliest RB on Fanduel this week, but I think he has a great opportunity to be the #1 back this week.

Like his team mate and fellow Fanduel Play of the Week Michael Vick, McCoy goes against the hapless SD Chargers. They will not be able to slow the Eagles offense down. Ecpect good things from Mr. McCoy.

Projections: 110 rushing yards and 1 TD. 30 receiving yards.

Stevan Ridley -  $6,800
After his week one benching Fanduel commissioners and Patriot's fans alike groaned. Then they cried when the saw Shane Vereen explode for a huge day.

But Vereen is now on the IR and Darth Hoodie has no choice but to thrust Ridley back into the starting offense on a team that had the most rushing TDs last year. Ridley will perform against the Jets and his low cost this week means he is a must buy.

Projections: 90 rushing yards and 1 TD. 20 receiving yards.

Darren Sproles - $6,700
Mr. Sproles is like Reggie Bush light. He got solid numbers in week one and now goes against the Tampa Bay Bucs who will likely devote most of their efforts to stopping Brees and his receivers.

Sproles will be Bree's safety valve and while the rushing yards probably won't be there, Sproles provides excellent Fanduel value due to his pass catching abilities. He'll make you love Fanduel's 0.5 points per reception rule.

Projections: 35 rushing yards. 80 receiving yards and 1 TD.

Quarterbacks for NFL Week 2 - Fanduel

Vick Helped Win Fanduel Players Money.
Fanduel Plays of the Week - Quarterbacks

Quarterbacks have the potential for the largest bang for your buck in Fanduel weekly leagues. While Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers will be bad asses for an entire season there are weeks when they will be outperformed by the EJ Manuel and Tim Tebow's of the world.

Michael Vick - $8,100
Under Chip Kelly's high octane offense Vick is a stud. He led many a Fanduel commish to victory last week and while some pundits claim the magic won't last I say ride him while he's hot. Vick has a chance to outperform all quarterbacks this week, but will cost you $1,700 less than Peyton Manning and $1,500 less than Drew Brees.

This week he'll go against the lowly San Diego Chargers who gave away a huge lead to the Packers to lose. Expect Vick and company to walk all over the Chargers and help you win several nice payouts.

Prediction: 240 yards passing and 2 passing TDs.  5 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD.

Terrele Pryor - $6,500
Pryor is a perfect example of how a crappy NFL QB can be a great Fanduel play. Last week his 102 rushing yards gave savvy Fanduel commissioners a huge boost.

This week they go against the lowly, lowest of the low, Jacksonville Jaguars who managed an accidental safety as their only bit of offense. Pryor's legs and arm will be too much for Jacksonville. I expect him to come close to matching his numbers from last week.

Prediction: 205 yards passing and 1 TD. 80 yards rushing and 1 TD.

Sam Bradford -$7,000
Sam Bradford has broken many a heart in traditional fantasy football leagues, but in a weekly Fanduel league he can be a low price value with great upside. This is one of those weeks where his value outstrips his cost.

I expect him to get into a shootout with the Atlanta Falcons this week and while I fully expect the Falcons to win, Bradford will post a nice stat line that will make him a value play.

Prediction: 285 passing yards and 2 TDs.

Defenses for NFL Week 2 - Fanduel.

Raiders Rated Highly??
In the real fantasy world (huh?) Defenses are like kickers. Interchangeable and selected last. But in the fantasy wonderland of daily and weekly fantasy leagues Defenses are potent forces that can win you the week or doom you to the cellar.

The question is how do you pick the right one? The philosophy here is the opposite of kickers. It is all based on matchups. If a team is playing a crap ass offensive team then that is a defense you want to target. So the basics of finding value in weekly Fanduel leagues is as follows. Find the crappiest offensive team that is facing a reasonably decent defense that costs $5,200 or less. Done.

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Defenses

Oakland Raiders - $5,200
A few years ago these guys were a top notch defense. That is no longer the case, but they are middle of the road.

And now they face the woeful, awful, pathetic, cannot even sell out their home field Jacksonville Jaguars. These guys are more than capable of outscoring any other defense this week including the pricey $5,700 Niners. Take em and spend the extra $500 elsewhere.

Projections: 3 sacks, 1 defensive TD, 1 INT, 1 fumble and they will hold the Jags to under 10 points.

Baltimore Ravens - $5,200
Gone, at least it seems so, are the days when everyone feared the Ravens D. Ed Reed is now in Houston. Ray Lewis is now a broadcaster.

Yet, this week they face the Browns at home and the old time rivalry will be in full force. They may not throttle the Browns, but I think they are a nice, low end pick.

Projections: 2 sacks, 2 INT, 1 fumble and they will hold the Browns to under 14 points.

Buffalo Bills - $5,000
The Bills spent a lot of money over the last few years on defense. Is this the week that it starts to pay some dividends.

I'm not a huge fan of this pick, but if you only have $5,000 to spend on your Fanduel team then you could do worse. The big question? Was their performance against the Patriots a fluke or a sign? If you think it is a sign then start the Bills against the Panthers.

Projections: 2 sacks, 1 INT, 2 fumbles, hold the Titans to under 21 points.

Other Solid Options: I rarely spend this money but both the Bengals and the Patriots at $5,400 could end up being top defenses come Tuesday morning. I also like KC at

NFL Week 2 Plays of the Week - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week
But D. Jack and Win Fanduel.

Fanduel.com has become the go to place for people who love daily and weekly fantasy games. Unlike traditional leagues, you get to pick your teams to suit the match ups and injury situations that arise every week in the NFL.

The key to winning at Fanduel is to get players who outperform their cost. Sure everybody knows Drew Brees and Adrian Peterson are studs, but to get them on your team they are gonna cost you.

So each week I'll bring you the cheaper options at each of the six positions that make up a standard Fanduel play that I fully expect will outperform their value. This information comes from studying trends and making educated guesses, but anything can happen on any given Sunday (or Thursday or Monday) so do your own research, pick wisely and enjoy your Fanduel experience.

Is this your first time trying Fanduel? Then make sure you put in the Fanduel Promo Code PD200 to receive up to $200 in matching plays. Good luck and send me your success stories.

Overall Play of the Week
This was a difficult one, but I will always try and make The Overall Pick of the Week a Bang for Your Buck pick.

Drum Roll Please.

DeSean Jackson - $5,700
This price will change. Jackson can be a jackass to be sure. Just see this video of him losing a TD because he drops the ball a yard before the goal line.  Despite that his talent is massive and he finally has a coach and system that supports his style. In this game he's a virtual lock for a 100 yard 1 TD day, I would not be at all surprised if he had a Victor Cruz-like day this week against the Chargers.

Calvin Johnson costs $3,100 more than Jackson. I would not be at all surprised if their stats were about equal, OR even favor Jackson come weeks end. Buy Jackson and be happy.

Win at Fanduel. Understanding Fanduel's Scoring System

I have long been bewildered, amazed and flabbergasted at how many people join a fantasy sports league, draft a team and play all year without understanding the scoring system. It is the height of stupidity.

In the Ten Commandments of Fantasy Sports understanding your leagues scoring system is the undisputed #1. Like the real First Commandment "Though shalt have no other gods before me" the First Commandment of Fantasy Sports is indisputably "Though shalt know your scoring system."

So, like me, you have become obsessed with the excitement, ego boosting, wallet stuffing possibilities of daily fantasy sports leagues hosted by websites like Fanduel.com and  Draftstreet.com. I am not surprised.

So how can you maximize your winning potential? The single, most important, essential, indisputable, other words that mean do it you moron way to win in Daily and Weekly fantasy leagues is to understand your scoring system.

Fanduel's NFL Scoring System.
  • Pick a team of 9 players.
  • You must pick the following positions: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, D
  • Thursday games start at 8:25 so rosters must be locked by then.
  • If your team scores more fantasy points than your opponent(s), you win!
  • Each player has a salary, and you only have $60,000 to spend. (Some Beginner games have a $65,000 budget. Some Expert games have a $55,000 budget)
Fanduel's Offense Scoring Rules.
  • Rushing yards = 0.1pts
  • Rushing touchdowns = 6pts
  • Passing yards = 0.04pts
  • Passing touchdowns = 4pts
  • Interceptions = -1pt
  • Receiving yards = 0.1pts
  • Receiving touchdowns = 6pts
  • Receptions = 0.5pts
  • Kick-return touchdowns = 6pts
  • Punt-return touchdowns = 6pts
  • Fumbles lost = -2pts
  • Own fumbles recovered touchdowns = 6pts
  • Two-point conversions scored = 2pts
  • Two-point conversion passes = 2pts
  • Field-goals from 0-19 yards = 3pts
  • Field-goals from 20-29 yards = 3pts
  • Field-goals from 30-39 yards = 3pts
  • Field-goals from 40-49 yards = 4pts
  • Field-goals from 50+ yards = 5pts
  • Extra-point conversions = 1pt
The Keys to Fanduel Victory - Offensive Edition
  • Try not to spend more than $5,100 on a Kicker.
  • Find at least one sleeper wide receiver under $5,500.
  • Target running backs, wide receivers and tight ends that have a high reception volume to take advantage of the 0.5 point per reception (PPR) bonus.
  • Target bell-cow running backs. Nothing kills a RB's point total more than splitting carries.
  • Find Goal line back on the cheap.
  • Slot Receivers can thrive.
  • Running QBs can win you the week.
  • Avoid high risk players that need the big play to help you win.
Fanduel's Defense Scoring Rules.
  • Sacks = 1pt
  • Opponent-fumbles recovered = 2pts
  • Return touchdowns = 6pts
  • Fumble return touchdowns = 6pts
  • Safeties = 2pts
  • Blocked kicks = 2pts
  • Interceptions made = 2pts
  • 0 points allowed = 10pts
  • 1-6 points allowed = 7pts
  • 7-13 points allowed = 4pts
  • 14-20 points allowed = 1pt
  • 28-34 points allowed = -1pt
  • 35+ points allowed = -4pts

The Keys to Fanduel Victory - Defensive Edition
  • Try not to spend more than $5,200 on a Defense.
  • Target defenses going against crappy teams. Especially when those crappy teams have crappy offenses.
  • Target defenses with shutdown corners.
  • Target defenses with great pass rushers.
  • Target defenses with great D-Lines.

Kickers for NFL Week 2 - Fanduel

Make or Break From a Kicker?
Fanduel Plays of the Week: Kickers

Steven Hauschka - $5,100
Value at the kicking position in Fanduel usually means finding the $5,000 price kicker with the most upside. An extra $400 - $600 spent on a wide receiver or running back can, and does, make a huge difference.

However I'm going to up my normal cost by $100 since I think the Seahawks will score a lot of points, but be forced to make a lot of field goals. That $100 may just make a 5 or 6 point difference and that could be huge.

Projections: 4 field goals and 3 extra points.

Mason Crosby  - $5,000
The Packers lost a thriller of a game last week, but I suspect that week two will be kinder to them as they face The Redskins on their home turf.

This is great value. While I fully suspect RGIII to improve his game in week two, I still think the Packers are way to potent to be kept out of scoring position. Crosby is rated at the bottom of the barrel by Fanduel. I suspect this time next week, he'll leap into the $5,200 kicker range. Get him cheap while you can.

Projections: 3 field goals and 3 extra points.

Sebastian Janikowski - $5,000
The kicker with the linebacker body, and attitude, goes up against one of the leagues worst teams in the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville is awful and Janikowski has a cannon leg. That makes for a very nice return on investment in kicking land.

Projections: 2 field goals and 3 extra points.

Other Solid Options: Greg Zuerlein, Alex Henery and Dan Bailey all at $5,000.

Tight Ends for NFL Week 2 - Fanduel

Fanduel Plays of the Week: Tight Ends
Jared Cook Beast Mode.

Tight ends can be the toughest position to project. There are few if any guaranteed studs. Graham is one, but even he can have a down week. This is the ultimate upside vs. price position. Choose wisely and choose bravely.

Jared Cook - $6,300
Who would have expected that St. Louis's tight end would end up the highest scoring Fanduel tight end in week one? I didn't, but I'm on board now and he can still be had for cheap, relatively speaking.

You could go for fancier names like Witten and Graham and be all but assured a nice return on investment, but for my money (less of it by $1,500 for Graham and $500 for Witten) I'm going Cook. Bradford likes him, and the Rams will need to throw the ball a lot to keep up with Atlanta.

Projections: 65 receiving yards and 1 TD.

Greg Olsen - $6,100
Week one saw Olsen and the entire Carolina Panther's offense struggle. But that was the Seahawks. This week they have the Bills.

Last year Olsen was well on his way to being a solid TE and Cam Newton will do his darnedest to ensure that trend continues a steady uphill climb. He may not light it up like Julius Thomas did last week, but he is a safe and valuable Fanduel play this week.

Projections: 60 receiving yards and 1 TD.

Zach Miller - $4,800
Last week the Seahawks played Carolina and the game was a low scoring slogfest of an affair. This week Seattle plays at home against the high scoring 49ers.

If Russell Wilson hopes to keep up with his Madden commercial buddy Colin Kaepernick, and throw Anthony Dixon's (who??) "She-Hawks comment back in his face he will make big use of TE Zach Miller. Expect Miller to be used as a frequent safety valve and have some real nice upside in Fanduel leagues.

Projections: 55 Receiving yards and 1 TD.

Other Solid Options: Jordan Cameron and Julius Thomas at $6,300 apiece and Owen Daniels at $6,000.

Wide Receivers for NFL Week 2 - Fanduel

Can Cruz Get 3 More TDs?
Fanduel Plays of the Week: Wide Receivers.

Is this your first time trying Fanduel? Then make sure you put in the Fanduel Promo Code PD200 to receive up to $200 in matching plays. Good luck and send me your success stories.

Victor Cruz - $7,300
Last week Cruz exploded for 3 TDs and far outpaced Calvin Johnson who was Fanduel's priciest WR in week one. This week Cruz will cost you $1,500 less than Megatron.

This week Cruz will be Eli Manning's main target when his big brother Peyton comes to town. Expect this game to be a huge shootout. I would not be surprised to see 8+ total passing TDs in this game and Cruz could very well end the week as Fanduel's top WR.

Projections: 110 yards receiving and 1 TD. (I wouldn't be shocked if he had 2)

Julian Edelman - $6,400
Edelman had a huge week one and was already a good play before news broke that Amendola was unlikely to suit up.

While some may say that the Jets will focus solely on Edelman, I think that the Pats rookies WR's led by Kenbrell Thompkins and Josh Boyce will keep the Revis Island-less Jets honest. He is a solid and cheap play this week in Fanduel.

Projections: 95 receiving yards and 1 TD. 20 rushing yards.

DeSean Jackson - $5,700
My third Eagle of the week. After his performance on Monday how Jackson can be priced at only $5,700 in Fanduel leagues is beyond me.

The Eagles offense may eventually slow down, but this week against San Diego is not the week it will happen.

Projections: 100 Receiving yards and 1 TD.

Other Solid Options: Anquan Boldin at $6,700. Pierre Garcon at $6,600. Antonio Brown at $6,400.
